Feature Overview

”Unusual Transaction Detection” is a new feature that uses Moneytree's proprietary AI algorithms (hereinafter, "Moneytree’s AI") to identify activity on your linked credit cards and debit cards that deviates from your normal spending patterns. Moneytree’s AI analyzes a combination of transaction amounts, frequency, and merchants and will notify you when it identifies unusual activity.

From there, you can view the full details of the flagged transaction, the reason it was detected, and general guidance on what to do if you don't recognize the transaction.

Q1. What is the "Unusual Transaction Detection" feature?

A: “Unusual Transaction Detection” uses Moneytree’s AI to identify activity on your linked credit cards and debit cards that deviates from your normal spending patterns. When you log into the Moneytree app and tap the Insights tab, a detection banner will appear if Moneytree’s AI has identified any unusual activity, showing the transaction details, the reason the activity was flagged, and suggested next steps.

A: No, it is free. All customers with a linked credit card and/or debit card can use this feature, including those on the free plan.

Q4. Do I need to configure anything?

A: The feature activates automatically when you link a credit card or debit card to the Moneytree app.

* Detection runs each time you log in, open the app and refresh your data. We recommend checking the Insights tab regularly to check if unusual activity has been detected.

2. How Detection Works

Q5. How does the feature detect unusual activity?

A: This AI powered feature developed by Moneytree analyses the transaction data from your linked cards. Moneytree’s AI detects unusual patterns in transaction amounts, frequency, and merchants, and notifies you when unusual activity is identified.

Q6. Is there a time lag between when a transaction occurs and when the "Unusual Transaction Detection" banner appears on the Insight tab of the app?

A: Moneytree’s AI regularly checks for unusual transactions. Depending on your financial institution, there may be a time lag between when a transaction occurs and when the "Unusual Transaction Detection" banner appears on the Insight tab of the app. Please also note that you must be logged into the Moneytree app to receive the latest unusual activity detections.

Q7. Are there any restrictions on which cards are supported?

A: Any credit card and debit card linked to the Moneytree app is generally supported.

Q8. Can the feature trigger false positives?

A: While we work to improve the accuracy of Moneytree's AI, legitimate transactions in unfamiliar locations or at new merchants may occasionally be flagged as unusual. If a detection occurs, please check the detail screen to review the transaction.

Q9. Which transactions are considered by Moneytree's AI when checking unusual activity?

A: Only credit card and debit card transactions that appear in the Moneytree's app are considered when Moneytree's AI identifies unusual activity. Please note that there is a delay between transactions taking place and them being available in the Moneytree app.

Q10. How does the detection work?

Every time that Moneytree's AI checks for unusual activity, all recent credit card and debit card transactions are considered to define usual patterns of expenditure. Next, Moneytree's AI verifies whether recent transactions differ from what is your unique pattern of expenditure.

Q11. Is my personal and financial data secure?

A: Yes. Moneytree operates with bank-level encryption and strict privacy policies. Card transaction data is used solely for unusual activity detection and will never be shared with third parties without your explicit consent. For more details on data security, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

Q12. I'm concerned about AI accessing my card data.

A: Please be assured. Moneytree’s AI is designed solely to protect you and is used only for detecting unusual patterns. Protecting Guest data is at the core of Moneytree's mission, and maintaining your trust is our top priority.

4. Limitations & Liability

Q13. Does Unusual Transaction Detection guarantee detection of all unusual transactions?

A: No. This feature uses Moneytree’s AI to analyse transaction data and identify patterns that may indicate unusual activity, but it does not guarantee detection of all cases. Detection accuracy may vary depending on the availability of transaction data provided by your financial institution.

Q14. Is Moneytree responsible if a detection is missed?

A: Moneytree is not liable for any losses or damages arising from missed or delayed detections. This feature is provided as a supplementary service to assist users in monitoring their card activity. Please refer to the Disclaimer below for more details.

Q15. Does every flagged transaction indicate a problem?

A: Not necessarily. In some cases, legitimate transactions may be flagged. When a detection occurs, please review the transaction details on the detail screen. (Please also refer to Q8.)

・Detection results may be delayed or unavailable due to factors outside of Moneytree's control, including delays in data delivery from financial institutions, network conditions, or device settings.

・This feature does not replace reviewing your own account statements or directly contacting your card issuer for inquiries, reports, billing disputes, or other related matters.
